Question tags are short questions added to the end of a sentence to ask for agreement or to confirm something — functionally similar to 'değil mi?' in Turkish. Forming the right tag requires paying close attention to whether the sentence is affirmative or negative, and which tense is used.
A positive sentence takes a negative question tagOlumlu cümle → olumsuz soru eki
📐 Rule
The Basic Rule: Opposite PolarityTemel Kural: Zıt Kutup
- If the sentence is AFFIRMATIVE, the tag is NEGATIVE: She is nice, isn't she?Cümle OLUMLU ise, soru eki OLUMSUZ olur: She is nice, isn't she?
- If the sentence is NEGATIVE, the tag is AFFIRMATIVE: You don't like it, do you?Cümle OLUMSUZ ise, soru eki OLUMLU olur: You don't like it, do you?

Special CasesÖzel Durumlar
- 'I am' has an exceptional tag: 'aren't I?' — I'm late, aren't I? (never 'amn't I').'I am' için soru eki istisnai olarak 'aren't I?' şeklindedir: I'm late, aren't I? (amn't I asla değil).
- Sentences with 'Let's' use 'shall we?': Let's go, shall we?'Let's' ile başlayan cümlelerde soru eki 'shall we?' olur: Let's go, shall we?
